Using Sea Shells to Remove Heavy Metals from Water : TreeHugger

This is a beautiful collection of sea shells. But what is more beautiful about it is the story that goes along with it. Some new research completed in Vietnam is suggesting that good old common sea shells are effective in removing harmful heavy metals from water. This is great news to some developing countries whose waterways are toxic with heavy metals such as cadmium, zinc, lead and iron.
