Camel Spiders in Iraq Hoax Email

These are not spiders; they don't belong to the arachnid family, but rather a different family. But man are they ugly. And they will eat you. So in other words, if I do ever travel to a desert location, I am going to make sure I never meet up with one of these. They want to stay in the shade so if one spots you, it will chase you to stay in your shadow. Ouch!

Government of Canada Official Web Site | Canada Site

The government of Canada has a great story about how Haitian children for adoption have finalized their adoptions and are settling in a new country with a family to love and take care of them. Today is the one year anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti which killed something like 200,000 Haitians and left almost as many homeless. These homeless are still living in squalid conditions in tents and shanties all over the capital city. It is heart-breaking, and so to see a good news clip like this makes us feel that despite the overwhelming situation, some good people are doing a lot to ease the suffering. There is still lots more to be done, and we could all take a part in helping. Contact local organizations to see what is available to be done to help. We can do this.

Google Earth

Google earth is amazing, and if you haven't played with it yet, I highly recommend you do just that. Try downloading it and see what you can do with it. I can literally walk down my own street, see my own house, and see who was parked in front of my house on the day that the satellite photo was taken. If amazing is the only word that I can think of to use, then multiply it by 1 million and use the word amazing, because I cannot think of anything else in the english language to describe it. A few months ago my brother came to visit, and he lives in another country. I have never been to his house. He showed me his street and house on google earth. You won't find every new house as it is built on google earth, because it takes some time for all the images to be up-to-date, but WOW, what can I say? I was indeed WOWED!
So, try it today if you really want to go on a fun adventure. You can go anywhere and see anything in the world that you want to. This could very easily become addicting...But also a way to get very educated about what's out there!

Google Maps

I know that most people have heard of google maps, but because I haven't known about it that long, I am betting that there are some people who have either never heard about it yet or are still a little afraid to use it. It's that powerful. Honestly, I can find anything I need to with it. Combined with google earth, I have access to the whole world, literally. How can we have access to something this amazing and yet not use it to its full potential? If you are one of those people who think they don't need it just because they don't know how to use it, then here's what I want you to do. Open it up, and start exploring. You won't blow up your computer doing this. If you get lost, then either just keep going or start over. You will have so much fun. It is more fun than a new toy. And there is so much to look at you will never run out of things to see, in your lifetime. Have fun!

Our three Guinea pigs fighting for a cucumber

Okay, I will admit it. I love this clip so much that I can't stop watching it. Part of the reason is I simply love guinea pigs so much that I can never get enough of them. The other reason is the clip is just so dang funny. You watch it for yourself and see. The embarrassing part to admit is that maybe I have already posted this? Just can't remember...Oh well. Here it is again!

Hamsters : About Hamsters

Okay, there's no way to deny it. Our family LOVES hamsters. Actually, our family loves all animals. Hamsters are great because they are so tiny, cute, fuzzy and take up very little space. They are cheap to feed, easy to care for and require minimal work to maintain. And of course, they are irresistible. There have been times when we have had 7 pet hamsters at one time. Can you believe it! Now we're down to 3.

thoughts of 2010

I have a lot of thoughts about 2010, and what I want to do different in 2011. Some of my musings are here, so you can read if you want. I think its a good idea to just sit back and contemplate what has been accomplished over the past year and then use that as a springboard to plan what you want to do for the next year. It's not just like setting resolutions; it's more than that. It involves some deep thought about what has happened in the past and how you can improve that for the future. This exercise really helps you to get a grip on where your life has been and where you want it headed.

Prehistoric Shark Found! « Adorablay Animals

If sharks are allowed to be cute, then this one is truly adorable. Called the frilled shark, fossils have been found for them. Because they live thousands of feed below the ocean's surface, sightings are extremely rare. One that was captured in 2007 died shortly after capture. Maybe the difference in water pressure?
I wonder why it ever came close enough to the surface to be captured in the first place? We may never know. Even though it's kinda cute, I don't think I wanna be swimming in the same water as this one...

Floating Lemons: Bit by Bit Blog: 107: Maple Leaf

Not only is this a really cute website, but I love the name. What attracted me was the very artistically drawn Maple Leaf, one of my favorites because of the blaze of color they create in the fall.

Tigers & Strawberries

The food on this site looks so appealing and sounds so amazing that I can almost guarantee you cannot read a page without drooling. Seriously. This woman knows how to cook.
The greatest part of her site is that she is definitely an accomplished storyteller and you get sucked in and can't leave. Have fun. It's an adventure.
