Zipper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Media_httpuploadwikim_hffyi

It is very interesting to read the history of the zipper, and find out that the BF Goodrich Company played a part in the zipper being a popular fastening method. Not too surprisingly, the zipper really gained momentum in the fashion industry once it was promoted as a better way than buttons to fasten the front of men's trousers.
I doubt that velcro, although it has many great uses, is as widely used as the zipper. The thing I hate about velcro fasteners is they get all gummed up with thread and lint when put through the washer and dryer, they are noisy to open in a quiet setting, and they wear out. Especially on shoes. I hate buying cute children's shoes only to have the velcro straps wear out long before the shoes do.

Some people think that you either have a talent or you don't, that you were either born with it or you weren't. Well I think that's only partly true. I think that talents require work to get them blossoming. Likewise, if you weren't "born with it", you can still work at it and develop it.

Things become easier and come to us more readily when we actually put some effort into them, when we take the time and effort to practice them. It's the same with almost anything.

Buy Jewelry Findings

Media_httpmediatumblr_tisyv

Wow this new site sure has some amazing jewelry on it! Every picture is stuff I want! I am too lazy to make my own. My goodness, why do girls like jewelry and pretty things so much? It is ridiculous sometimes. The funny part is, I don't even wear jewelry that much. Just want it and just want to look at it.

Soul Surfer (2011) - IMDb

Media_httpiamediaimdb_gycui

This movie looks amazing! Everyone who's read the book raves about how good it is, yet the star rating on IMDB is only 6/10. I haven't quite figured that out yet. Most people know the true story; a teenage girl who loves to surf gets bitten by a shark and loses one of her arms. It is an all-star cast. Well, you'll have to read the reviews for yourself.

Partially Erupted Wisdom Teeth

Media_httpwwwstreetar_lekhg

Do you know where your wisdom teeth are? Depending on your age, your wisdom teeth are either still in your jaw, are partially out of your gums, are fully erupted or have been extracted.
Wisdom teeth are one of those things that we don't seem to need. In fact most people don't have room in their mouths for wisdom teeth. I wonder why that is? Kind of strange how they are produced by our body but they usually have to come out because there is no room for them and they cause dental difficulties.

Why Kids Should Brush Their Teeth

Media_httpwwwstreetar_jkjao

This is great advice; children who learn at a very young age to brush their teeth are much more likely to carry on the good habit through the teen years and into adulthood. However, the same is true for children who aren't taught to brush their teeth regularly. They too, will carry on the bad habit through teen years and into adulthood.

Those of us adults who have suffered tooth decay and various other problems should really be advocates for children's tooth health.

Options For Replacing Lost Or Missing Teeth

Media_httpwwwstreetar_htujb

I have discovered that it is so important to do something about your night time tooth grinding (bruxism). I learned the hard way. I lost one of my molars; it had to be extracted because it had split in half, all the way down to the roots. The cause: many years of night grinding. The pressure is just too much.

It's much better to do something about it before it's too late than to lose a tooth forever. The only option left open to me now if I want a tooth there is to get an implant. Man are they ever expensive! I have only a few months to save up the money if I want to get it done, because the longer I wait, the less chance there is of having enough bone there to place the implant.

Some implants are done immediately after extraction. Ouch! The extraction was much more painful (after the freezing wore off) than I ever thought it would be.

So a word of advice: go get a bruxism guard and wear it faithfully every night. Your teeth will thank you!

Palazzo Rospo: Red Spotted Newt - Eft Stage

Media_httpgardenplott_gfyst

Look at this cute little red guy. Isn't he sweet! I don't necessarily want these roaming around my house or anything, but I love nature and creatures so much that I really enjoy looking at them and watching them. They come in such a diverse range of colors and textures, sizes and personalities. This is an awesome picture that Leslie captured and then posted on her blog. That's kind of awesome that she has chronicled her move from urban life to the middle of nowhere. What a fun adventure. I would love to get "lost in nature" for awhile, whenever I wanted.
