I think that the earth can sustain us and all of our inhabitants. I think it's more a matter of how the food is distributed to the people rather than are there too many people for the amount of food.
It's a case of evening out the waste and the want. In other words, some of the people on the planet live in abundance, and it is not appreciated to the extent that it is used well. In fact much is wasted. Contrast that to areas of the world where they live in want, or in other words they don't have enough.
There needs to be a better balance.
