Do you have a hunter in the family? Do you enjoy cooking and eating wild game once in a while, or often? I know some families that only eat venison, antelope or moose year-round.
I used to hate the thought of deer meat, because all I had ever had was so strong-tasting that I couldn't stomach it. It smelled and tasted like concentrated urine. Ugh!
Then last year we were given some deer pepperoni and some ground deer meat. I was reluctant to cook and taste it because of my bad experiences. But they assured me it wasn't strong and I would like it. Well to make a long story short, I loved it.
I wish I had more of it, in fact. It was the best thing I had ever tasted. So light and lean.
I guess its all in the way the animal is killed and dressed afterward.
Well whatever they did, they did it right.
If you have venison to enjoy this winter, try some of the recipes above. Enjoy.
