More on About

With the weather turning chilly and winter approaching, it's time to break out the slow cookers, crock pots, or whatever you want to call them. Actually I use mine year-round but not as much in the summer as in the winter.

It is so comforting to have that pot slow-cooking some food all day long, and the thought of a bowl of chili or stew accompanied by a loaf of freshly made bread straight out of the bread machine just can't be beat.

In the morning, put on a pot of chili or stew in a large slow cooker. Then about 3 hours before the meal, throw some whole potatoes into another slow cooker. About 2 hours before the meal, throw a batch of bread dough into the bread machine (time it with how long your machine takes to bake the loaf of bread)

At meal time, cut open the potatoes and put 1/2 potato into each bowl. Cut randomly with a knife into smaller chunks. Top with chili and serve with hot bread.

Mmmm Mmmm Good!
